Shoes on , an archive of gestures and movements that evolves from the most ancestral forms to postures familiar to athletics or dance. Only two pairs of shoes dress the bodies of the performers, and thus become further characters in the scene. An architectural investigation of the body that, going through different registers, reveals the potential and creative sensitivity of nudity in accordance with the object that is acted upon and at the same time acts on the scene and generates the urgency of rootedness, and the need not to take oneself too seriously. Inspired by the Surrealist movement and the images of authors such as Ren Hang, Eveline Bencicova and the photographer Adey, Luna Cenere continues her research on the themes of the body, posture – mainly the subjects’ backs – and gesture. The piece shows landscapes made of bodies that suggest hidden meanings, the movements reveal the symbolic and not only anthropomorphic nature of our being in the body.
“In my work”, the artist says in the choreography notes, “I prefer a slow tempo for the construction of the physical architectures and I pay great attention to the details of the gesture. I understand the choreographic score as a path through space during which transformations occur. In this work I feel that I have gone beyond myself, not surprisingly this is the first time I direct without being on stage. I received proposals, directed intentions, allowed the emergence of a grammar in forms new to me”.
