Meet the local communities.
Genealogia – project of choreographic research is a shared practice and choreographic research that can be declined in different forms and formats of use, born with the desire to carry out an artistic, choreographic and human experiment. In this sense, a group of professionals, led by Luna Cenere, researches and creates a vocabulary of movement and a compositional structure. The goal of the project is to cross the different host places by involving citizens and sharing the research to open it to the creation of a new composition resulting from the meeting between professionals and amateurs that can be presented to the audience at the end of the path. A research with the nature of an installation, as can be seen in the previous works by Luna Cenere, to which is added the relational character of a community, a group that becomes expression, place, landscape in transformation and migration. Continuing her research on a body lying in the condition of nudity, Luna brings out its metaphysical and animal potential.
On 5 and 6 September 2020 Genealogia premiered in a “time specific” version at the Oriente Occidente Festival at the Campana dei Caduti in Rovereto.
For this stage of the research that took place during the period of the Covid-19 pandemic, the theme of the distance of bodies and between bodies was examined, developing new choreographic and compositional strategies. Specifically, following a public call to which amateurs and professionals from all over Italy responded, Luna held a path of approach and transmission of the issues through online meetings. This led to the definition of a close-knit and heterogeneous group that was then invited to take part in the “workshop” path in presence at the CID International Center of Dance in Rovereto. The group was then further divided in half to allow the security distance in the room. A first group of residents and a second group for people outside the region. Each group worked separately on the composition and, through guided improvisation practices, on the genesis of a common quality of movement. The groups were then reunited at the Campana Dei Caduti, the place chosen for the public restitution which took place as part of the Oriente Occidente 2020 Festival “For me it is like starting over – explains Luna Cenere – in fact, the previous stages of Genealogia in Emilia – Romagna and Marche region were built before the blockade of activities due to the pandemic. Now everything is different: a new research will be born in Rovereto, the result of the traumatic experience we have lived. And even stronger will be the impact in its “setting” at the Campana dei Caduti in Rovereto, a symbolic, historical place of commemoration of suffering and loss. I imagine a collective ritual having the human as its focus. The architectural space and the natural light of the twilight will allow the group to have a unique visual, sound, spatial and gaze relationship even in the absence of physical contact. I invite the performers and the public to share an “adagio of bodies”, landscape in landscape, embraced by the deep and visceral soundscape signed by the Neapolitan composer Renato Grieco, spokesperson for “instrumental reductionism” and “psychoacoustics.”
